Decorator Operator

About the role

The Decorator Operator works on high‑speed can decorating lines, ensuring that metal cans receive accurate, high‑quality printing. The role supports production schedules while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor can decorating equipment such as feeders, coaters and ovens.
• Set up, adjust and change over machinery according to job orders.
• Perform in‑process quality checks for colour matching, print registration and defect detection.
• Troubleshoot minor mechanical and operational issues to minimise downtime.
• Carry out preventative maintenance as scheduled.
• Load and unload raw materials (ink, coatings, cans) and finished products.
• Maintain accurate production records of output, waste and downtime.
• Follow all safety protocols and keep the work area clean and organised.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or printing environment.
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to perform basic adjustments and troubleshooting.
• Strong attention to detail, especially for colour and print quality.
• Ability to read production specifications and job orders.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lb and work in noisy, hot or chemical‑exposed conditions.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills for data entry and machine interface.
