Design Engineer – Roads & Civil Infrastructure

About the role

SYSTRA is seeking a Design Engineer to join its Roads & Civil Infrastructure team in Mecca. The role involves supporting the planning and design of roadworks and related civil infrastructure projects across Saudi Arabia and the GCC.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and develop design drawings, calculations, reports and technical specifications for civil infrastructure and road projects.
• Support the planning and design of roads, grading, utilities, drainage and associated infrastructure elements.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integration and compliance with project requirements.
• Review project requirements, design criteria, standards and authority regulations applicable in KSA and the GCC.
• Conduct technical assessments, value engineering and design optimisation.
• Ensure designs meet quality, safety and timeline expectations.
• Participate in internal design reviews and liaise with clients, consultants and authorities as needed.
• Assist in preparing tender and construction documentation and resolve design issues during delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in designing civil infrastructure and road projects.
• Experience in Saudi Arabia preferred.
• Arabic language proficiency required.
• Good knowledge of relevant design standards, authority requirements and engineering practices.
