Electrical Technician – Maintenance & Repair

About the role

The Electrical Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of electrical equipment in an industrial environment. You will perform preventive, predictive, corrective and breakdown maintenance to ensure reliable plant operation and minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine inspections, identify abnormal conditions (over‑heating, noise, vibration, oil leaks, loose connections, damaged cables, insulation deterioration) and act accordingly.
• Perform cleaning, tightening, lubrication, part replacement, cable termination, minor repairs and equipment restoration.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults, alarms, trips and abnormal operating conditions to restore equipment promptly.
• Maintain medium‑voltage and low‑voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, motors, contactors, relays, control panels, generators, transformers, UPS systems, cable trays, earthing and lightning protection systems.
• Support installation, commissioning, modification and upgrading of electrical systems and equipment.
• Use approved test instruments (multimeters, clamp meters, insulation resistance testers, continuity testers, earth resistance testers, phase rotation meters) for routine and specialist testing.
• Record test results accurately, report abnormal findings and assist in root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• Experience in industrial electrical maintenance and repair.
• Ability to work safely following OEM manuals, drawings, procedures and site standards.
• Strong diagnostic skills to identify and resolve equipment failures.
• Capability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electrical test equipment: multimeter, clamp meter, insulation resistance tester, continuity tester, earth resistance tester, phase rotation meter.
• Experience in relay testing, primary and secondary injection, breaker timing, contact resistance testing, transformer testing, thermography and partial discharge testing.
• Knowledge of medium‑voltage and low‑voltage switchgear, motor drives, UPS systems, generators and associated protection systems.
