General Ledger Accountant

About the role

The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company's general ledger, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified. This role supports both monthly and annual financial closing processes and provides essential data for internal and external audits.

Key responsibilities

• Record and review accounting journal entries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and appropriate supporting documentation.
• Prepare correcting, reclassification, accrual, prepaid, and depreciation entries as required.
• Conduct periodic reconciliations of significant accounts, including AR, AP, banks, payroll, and fixed assets.
• Investigate and resolve unusual or unexplained balances in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor and adjust accruals and prepaid expenses to align with accounting policies.
• Review payroll accounting, ensuring proper allocation to accounts, projects, and cost centers.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and reconcile it with general ledger balances.
• Allocate revenues and expenses to appropriate projects, cost centers, and accounts, correcting classification errors when identified.
• Support the finance team by providing accurate data for project cost analysis and profitability assessments.
