Packaging Engineer

About the role

As a Packaging Engineer at Lucid, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative packaging solutions for global automotive programs. You will own the end‑to‑end packaging development process, working closely with product design, manufacturing, supply chain and quality teams to ensure protection, cost‑effectiveness and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, validate and implement scalable packaging systems for automotive projects.
• Lead cross‑functional packaging initiatives across engineering, logistics, manufacturing and suppliers.
• Drive standardisation and continuous improvement of packaging processes and materials.
• Maintain packaging specifications, documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Use PackAssistant or equivalent software to simulate and optimise packaging density and logistics efficiency.
• Benchmark best practices and integrate innovative packaging technologies.
• Support new product launches and engineering changes with robust packaging strategies.
• Develop and manage packaging budgets, timelines and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to source cost‑effective and sustainable materials.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions for packaging‑related issues.
• Train and mentor packaging engineers and support staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Software, Information Systems, Computer, Electronics or related).
• 4–7 years of hands‑on experience in packaging design and implementation.
• 1–2 years of supervisory or team‑lead experience in packaging or logistics.
• Experience in automotive logistics operations or a similar environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PackAssistant or equivalent packaging simulation software.
