Production Engineer – Mining Operations

About the role

The Production Engineer will plan and coordinate the availability and use of people, supplies, and equipment to support efficient mine operations while ensuring compliance with statutory, safety, and environmental requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Validate minable resources through preliminary surveys with geologists and assess ore extraction feasibility.
• Determine appropriate extraction methods based on overburden depth, deposit characteristics, and surrounding strata.
• Plan and coordinate labor, supplies, and equipment to maximise efficiency and meet safety and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, and engineers on mining machines, facilities, systems, infrastructure, and environmental protection.
• Prepare operating and project cost estimates, evaluate capital and operating viability, and control expenditures during production.
• Participate in negotiations for mine purchases or investments and analyse environmental sensitivities.
• Compile monthly and yearly production statistics for management review.
• Monitor adherence to HSE programs, investigate incidents, provide recommendations, and brief contractors on HSE regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mining engineering, including hands‑on mine operations across different mine styles.
