Project Cost Controller – IT Projects

About the role

The Project Cost Controller will oversee the financial performance of large‑scale IT projects, ensuring budgets, costs, contracts and financial risks are managed in line with approved plans. This role works closely with project managers, vendors and the PMO to provide accurate cost reporting and proactive financial guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and monitor project budgets, tracking actual expenditures against approved limits.
• Develop cost estimation models, cash‑flow forecasts and regularly update financial projections as projects evolve.
• Review contract terms, verify invoices and payment requests, and manage purchase orders, change requests and contract variations.
• Support the creation of business cases, feasibility studies and provide cost‑management assistance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques to monitor PV, EV, AC, CPI and SPI, ensuring performance aligns with schedule and cost baselines.
• Produce periodic cost reports, dashboards and KPI analyses for senior management.
• Identify, assess and mitigate financial risks impacting project budgets, costs and schedules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, MIS, Computer Engineering or IT.
• 5–8 years of experience in cost control or cost management for technology/IT projects.
• At least 3 years managing large‑scale IT projects within a PMO environment.
• Experience in IT project contract and claims management.
• Preferred certifications: PMP, CCP, CMA, CPA.
