About the role
The Project Engineer Hydraulics is a senior technical position focused on the design, validation, and deployment of advanced hydraulic models for drilling and well construction. You will work closely with domain experts, data scientists, and software developers to deliver accurate steady‑state and transient hydraulic simulations that support Managed Pressure Drilling operations.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development and optimisation of steady‑state and transient hydraulic models.
- Select, develop, test, validate and benchmark analytical and computational models for drilling hydraulics.
- Characterise complex hydraulic processes such as multiphase flow, non‑linear rheology, cuttings transport and fluid abrasion.
- Conduct research on analytical and computational modelling of drilling hydraulic systems.
- Collaborate with modelling engineers, software developers and product lines to enhance existing solutions.
- Partner with data scientists to create hybrid physics‑based and AI/ML solutions.
- Evaluate third‑party modelling tools and assess integration potential.
- Identify modelling risks, uncertainties and accuracy limitations.
- Produce technical publications and present at industry conferences.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers while ensuring compliance with safety policies.
Required profile
- Minimum 10 years of experience (≈120 months) in drilling hydraulics engineering.
- Proven track record of leading research initiatives and publishing technical papers.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional, multicultural teams.
- Commitment to safety standards and mandatory training requirements.
