Protection Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Protection Engineer to join JIGPC’s Maintenance team. The role is responsible for maintaining, optimizing and ensuring the reliability of protection systems across our world‑class industrial and power‑generation facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise protective relays, circuit breakers and fault‑detection equipment.
• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programmes to minimise failures.
• Extract, analyse and investigate fault data, performing root‑cause analysis.
• Test, calibrate, configure and commission protection relays and associated hardware.
• Support system modifications, upgrades and integration projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, company procedures and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance and Project teams during shutdowns, turnarounds and system enhancements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical protection engineering within power generation, utilities or large industrial facilities.
• Hands‑on experience with protective relays, fault analysis and relay testing equipment.
• Familiarity with testing tools such as Omicron and Megger.
• Knowledge of relay platforms including SEL, Siemens, GE, MiCOM, Beckwith, REG‑DA and TAPCON.
