Resident Engineer – Optical Transport/DWDM

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Resident Engineer to lead the installation, commissioning, testing, acceptance and hand‑over of optical transport infrastructure at Cable Landing Stations and Data Centres in Saudi Arabia. The role requires close supervision of contractors, rigorous testing, and coordination with vendors to ensure seamless network operation.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise optical transport/DWDM installation and commissioning performed by contractors and vendors.
• Manage rack, power, fibre routing, ODF/MMR termination, labelling and documentation.
• Witness and validate optical acceptance tests such as OTDR, insertion loss, ORL, optical power, OSNR, chromatic dispersion and PMD.
• Identify design or installation deviations, raise NCRs, and drive corrective actions.
• Maintain punch lists, MOPs, method statements, permits‑to‑work and overall site activities.
• Verify as‑built drawings and installation records, and prepare daily/weekly site reports.
• Coordinate with vendors, site owners and CLS operators to ensure no impact on live services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of field experience in optical transport/transmission implementation.
• At least 3 years supervising telecom contractors/vendors for an operator or client.
• Hands‑on experience with DWDM/OTN, optical testing and acceptance in live environments.
• Fluent English; Arabic preferred.
