Rolling Stock Technician (RST) – Maintenance & Operations

About the role

The Rolling Stock Technician (RST) is responsible for executing preventive and corrective maintenance on RST equipment within a depot environment. Working under the supervision of the RST Shift Supervisor, the role ensures safe vehicle movements, compliance with regulations, and optimal performance of railway assets.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on RST systems in line with regulations and industry best practices.
• Analyse equipment disruptions and implement preventive actions under supervisor guidance.
• Drive and shunt RST vehicles manually or with a shunting vehicle, including safety checks, coupling/decoupling, and secure parking.
• Prepare tools, materials, and workshop equipment for maintenance tasks.
• Document failures and submit reports via the CMMS.
• Assist the shift supervisor with operational tasks and coordinate train movements between handover tracks and maintenance workspaces.
• Power up and shut down train components (HVAC, lighting, etc.) before and after shunting.
• Connect and disconnect vehicles to 750 V DC power supplies or charging units.
• Operate emergency response vehicles during rescue situations.

Required profile

• Vocational training in Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical disciplines (e.g., electrician, wireman, machinist, refrigeration & air‑conditioning mechanic, machine‑tool maintenance mechanic).
• 2–3 years of relevant maintenance experience, preferably in railway or metro rolling‑stock environments.
• Experience with complex technical systems such as brakes, HVAC, TMS, propulsion, doors, bogie and suspension.
• Familiarity with depot workshop equipment is an advantage.
