Safety Officer – Oil & Gas Facilities

About the role

The Safety Officer will oversee health, safety and environmental (HSE) practices for KBR’s oil & gas facilities. The role involves daily inspections, risk assessments and ensuring that all workers follow established safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect equipment, tools, safety belts, ladders, ropes, rubber goods and replace any items that do not meet safety standards.
• Observe work crews and report non‑compliance with personal protective equipment such as goggles and gloves.
• Examine ditches, tunnels and other confined spaces, recommending bracing or other controls to prevent cave‑ins.
• Investigate accidents, determine root causes and develop preventive actions.
• Provide instruction on proper use of safety equipment and safe work methods.
• Ensure full compliance with all SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) procedures before and during work activities.
• Promote a culture of reporting unsafe acts and conditions.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in oil & gas maintenance (high‑school level) or 6 years with a diploma.
• Strong technical understanding of maintenance tasks related to safety.
• Well‑organized, proactive and able to communicate clearly.
• Proven leadership experience in large organisations.
• Ability to make sound judgments under pressure and resolve problems.
• Strategic management capabilities.
