Safety Officer – Oil & Gas Facilities

About the role

KBR is seeking a Safety Officer to lead safety inspections and ensure safe working conditions across oil and gas facilities. The role involves monitoring equipment, tools, and work environments, promoting compliance with safety procedures, and investigating incidents to prevent future occurrences.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect safety belts, ladders, ropes, rubber goods, and tools, replacing any that do not meet safety standards.
• Observe crews on site, reporting any laxity in the use of personal protective equipment such as goggles and gloves.
• Examine ditches and tunnels, recommending bracing to prevent cave‑ins and protect workers.
• Investigate accidents, determine root causes, and develop preventive measures.
• Instruct workers on proper use of safety equipment and safe work methods.
• Ensure compliance with all SHE procedures before and during work activities.
• Encourage reporting of unsafe acts and conditions.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in oil & gas maintenance with a high‑school education, or 6 years with a diploma.
• Strong technical understanding of maintenance tasks related to safety.
• Well‑organized, proactive, and excellent communication abilities.
• Proven leadership experience within large organizations.
• Ability to make sound judgments under pressure and resolve problems.
• Strategic management capabilities.
