Senior Oracle & Database Engineer

About the role

Gateworth Group is supporting a Technology Consultancy in Saudi Arabia with the hire of a senior database specialist to take ownership of Oracle, Exadata, SQL Server, and MySQL environments. The role is suited to a hands‑on engineer with deep expertise across performance tuning, high availability, security, and enterprise‑grade database operations.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and optimise Oracle databases across OCI, Exadata, RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
• Lead performance tuning initiatives, including SQL optimisation and indexing strategies.
• Implement and maintain high‑availability and disaster‑recovery solutions for Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL.
• Manage backup and recovery processes such as RMAN, transaction logs, binary backups, and point‑in‑time recovery.
• Oversee secure database configurations, including RBAC, encryption, auditing, and advanced security features.
• Design and implement scalable database architectures across Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and Sybase.
• Manage Exadata operations, including storage cell configuration, intelligent storage pools, and InfiniBand optimisation.
• Develop automation scripts to streamline administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
• Monitor database health, performance, and availability using advanced monitoring tools.
• Troubleshoot complex issues such as performance degradation, replication failures, and data corruption.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in Oracle DBA roles.
• Strong hands‑on experience with OCI, Exadata, RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
• Proven experience in database migration, performance tuning, and high‑availability design.
• Solid administration experience across SQL Server and MySQL.
• Strong understanding of database security, encryption, auditing, and access control.
• Experience troubleshooting complex database issues in enterprise environments.
• Ability to design scalable, secure, and high‑performance database solutions.
• Strong scripting and automation capability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
