Senior Power Transformer Design Engineer

About the role

The Senior Power Transformer Design Engineer will lead the design and localization of high‑voltage power transformers (220 kV and above) for manufacturing in Saudi Arabia. This role establishes design standards, supports international bids, and ensures compliance with IEC, SASO, SEC, and Saudi Aramco requirements while mentoring local engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Create a localized design system for 220 kV+ transformers, including specifications, calculation standards, and drawing templates.
• Develop transformer designs that meet IEC, SASO, SEC, and Saudi Aramco technical standards.
• Prepare technical proposals, bid documents, and conduct customer design reviews for international projects.
• Perform and review electromagnetic, insulation, mechanical, lead‑arrangement, and tank structural designs.
• Optimize designs for Saudi operating conditions such as high ambient temperatures, desert environments, and sandstorms.
• Control engineering changes, material selection, and design outputs to align with local manufacturing capabilities.
• Lead root‑cause investigations and corrective actions for major design issues.
• Mentor and train local design engineers through technical training materials and development programs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, testing, quality, and process engineering teams to ensure production readiness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in power transformer design, specifically 220 kV and above.
• International project experience in transformer design and delivery.
• Strong knowledge of IEC, SASO, SEC, and Saudi Aramco standards.
• Fluency in English and Arabic.
