Senior Quality Control Engineer

About the role

Sulzer is seeking a Senior Quality Control Engineer to ensure technical compliance and high‑quality service of rotating equipment such as pumps, turbines and compressors. The role supports inspections, repair solutions and the development of quality procedures while adhering to Sulzer OEM, customer and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct incoming, in‑process and final inspections of rotating equipment and components.
• Prepare and review overhaul reports with technical recommendations.
• Develop work instructions, drawings and repair methods based on inspection findings.
• Maintain job packs, checklists, inspection records and SOPs.
• Prepare and execute Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) with stakeholders.
• Provide technical quality support, including WPS/PQR review and material selection.
• Perform dimensional, geometric and disassembly inspections.
• Manage NCRs, including root‑cause analysis, corrective actions and lessons learned.
• Coordinate NDT and specialized testing with third‑party providers.
• Ensure calibration, control and traceability of inspection equipment.
• Support operations/projects with progress updates and technical issue resolution.
• Train staff on quality standards and drive LEAN and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Uphold EHS, quality procedures and 5S practices to maintain a safe, clean work environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in quality control of rotating equipment.
• Strong background with centrifugal pumps; experience with compressors or turbines is a plus.
• Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, manuals and technical specifications.
• Experience in procedure development and NCR handling.
• Knowledge of OEM standards and practices preferred.

Required skills

• Precision measurement and workshop inspection techniques.
• Understanding of pump hydraulics, mechanical seals and rotating equipment dynamics.
• NDT certification (Level 2 – LPT, MPI, UT).
• LEAA lifting/rigging certification (optional).
• WPS/PQR review and material selection expertise.
