Site Reliability Engineer – Freelance Contract

About the role

Throne Solutions is looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer on a freelance contract to ensure the availability, performance and scalability of its enterprise production environments in Riyadh. The role combines software engineering and operations to build resilient cloud infrastructure and automate day‑to‑day tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain highly available, secure AWS infrastructure using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Deploy, manage and optimise Kubernetes clusters and Docker‑based workloads.
• Develop automation scripts in Python, Bash or Go to replace manual processes.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or similar tools.
• Implement monitoring, logging and observability solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Datadog or AWS CloudWatch.
• Lead incident response, perform root‑cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
• Define and manage SLOs, SLIs and error budgets to improve reliability.
• Participate in a 24×7 on‑call rotation and provide production support.
• Document runbooks, disaster‑recovery procedures and standard operating procedures.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of hands‑on experience in site reliability or DevOps engineering.
• Proven track record with AWS, Kubernetes and container orchestration.
• Strong background in infrastructure‑as‑code and CI/CD automation.
• Experience handling production incidents and performing RCA.
• Ability to work collaboratively with development, security and networking teams.
