Specification Writer – Technical Standards

About the role

The Technical Specification Writer will join the National Technical Codes Standardization Project team to develop, refine and finalise technical specifications that govern construction practices across Saudi Arabia. Working closely with subject‑matter experts, engineers and regulatory bodies, you will ensure that all specifications are clear, consistent and aligned with international best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Draft precise specification documents for construction codes across civil, structural, geotechnical, MEP and materials disciplines.
• Convert SME input into formal CSI‑style specification formats.
• Review existing national and international codes to identify gaps and best practices applicable to the Kingdom.
• Harmonise terminology, formatting and technical content for consistency across all outputs.
• Collaborate with technical leads, designers, regulators and industry experts to gather requirements and validate content.
• Facilitate workshops, clarification sessions and content reviews to align on specification intent.
• Conduct technical editing, proofreading and validation to eliminate ambiguity and errors.
• Provide guidance, training materials and support to internal teams and external stakeholders on using the standards.
• Respond to queries regarding specification intent during implementation phases.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with subject‑matter experts and engineering teams on technical documentation.
• Familiarity with CSI‑style specification drafting and construction industry terminology.
• Ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear, unambiguous language.
