Adult Intensivist – Cardiac ICU

About the role

The Adult Intensivist in the Cardiac ICU provides expert clinical care and consultative services to critically ill adult patients with medical or surgical conditions. The role is based within the Specialty Medicine Department and reports to the Chief of the Division of Specialty Medicine.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver person‑centered care and consultations to in‑patients and out‑patients in cardiac critical care.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with hospital standards and granted privileges.
• Complete all medical documentation, coding and reporting promptly and accurately.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, respond to emergency requests across all JHAH facilities, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Engage in unit, division, department and hospital meetings, as well as educational activities such as Grand Rounds and Journal Clubs.
• Contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives, committee work, and risk‑management processes.

Required profile

• Medical degree from an approved school and a one‑year internship.
• Residency certified training in Internal Medicine, Anesthesia or Emergency Medicine.
• Fellowship in cardiac critical care medicine (or equivalent UK registrar experience: ≥2 years in cardiac critical care and ≥1 year in ICU).
• Valid medical license and American/Canadian Board certification or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of post‑board or fellowship practice in cardiac critical care.
