Asphalt Formulation Specialist - Production

About the role

Eram Talent, a talent acquisition consultancy, is recruiting an Asphalt Formulation Specialist for a leading company in Saudi Arabia, based in Jeddah. The specialist develops and optimizes asphalt mixes by selecting and combining aggregates, binders, fillers and additives to meet performance and durability standards, and runs laboratory trials according to ASTM, AASHTO and local standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize asphalt formulations to meet project specifications and performance criteria.
• Conduct laboratory tests and analysis to evaluate asphalt and related materials.
• Collaborate with production teams to implement formulations in manufacturing.
• Ensure production complies with safety, environmental and technical standards (ASTM, AASHTO, local regulations).
• Oversee and manage daily asphalt production at the plant for quality, efficiency and safety.
• Monitor production processes and performance metrics against quality standards.
• Troubleshoot formulation issues and plant or process problems affecting mix consistency, and implement corrective actions.
• Assess raw materials, introduce new materials or processes, and work with research partners, suppliers and asphalt plants where needed.
• Provide technical guidance on formulation adjustments and performance optimization.
• Prepare detailed documentation and reports on formulation developments and testing results.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in asphalt formulation and production.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a plant environment.
• Excellent communication and coordination with QC, lab and design teams.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of asphalt materials, chemical additives and testing methodologies.
• Solid understanding of asphalt mixing processes, production equipment and quality control standards.
• Familiarity with ASTM, AASHTO and local road construction specifications.
• Experience with plant troubleshooting, process improvement or automation is a plus; knowledge of sustainable or innovative production practices is desirable.
