Director of Health, Safety, Security & Environment for Utility Compounds

About the role

The Director – HSWW Utility Compounds provides strategic leadership and overall accountability for Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental performance across all HSWW utility compounds and associated infrastructure, including treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, and related civil/MEP works.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead the HSWW HSE strategy aligned with corporate objectives, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
• Establish governance frameworks, policies, and procedures for HSE across design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
• Define performance targets, KPIs, and reporting structures, ensuring alignment across projects and operations.
• Own and continuously improve the HSE Management System, integrating ISO standards and defining minimum HSE requirements for compounds.
• Lead identification and management of HSE risks, overseeing HAZID/HAZOP studies, process safety reviews, and Management of Change.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable HSE legislation and permits, and oversee audit and inspection programs.
• Provide leadership for incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and dissemination of lessons learned.
• Direct development and testing of emergency response plans and interface with regulators during significant incidents.
