ERM & Patient Safety Specialist

About the role

The ERM & Patient Safety Specialist will lead the occurrence reporting process, ensuring thorough review, investigation and corrective action of all events. The role supports a just‑culture environment and drives risk‑management training across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the hospital‑wide incident reporting and risk registry systems.
• Document, monitor and analyse patient safety events and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Conduct complete case‑review audits in line with hospital policy.
• Promote a just culture where errors and near‑misses are openly discussed as learning opportunities.
• Develop and implement risk‑management training programs for staff.
• Participate in relevant committees, task forces and departmental projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, nursing or allied health (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 9 years of clinical experience, including at least 5 years in quality improvement/patient safety and 3 years in risk management.
• Advanced proficiency in English and Arabic.
• Certified Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) or Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) required.

Required skills

• CPHQ certification.
• CPPS or CPHRM certification.
• Additional quality certifications such as Lean Six Sigma or Just Culture.
