Freight Specialist – Supply Chain

About the role

The Freight Specialist supports Alfanar Group’s supply chain by handling customs clearance, shipment planning and execution for both import and export activities. You will ensure all documentation complies with legal and regulatory requirements while coordinating with forwarders, shippers and internal teams to achieve timely deliveries.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate shipping requests (IBD) received from the purchase officer, identifying and resolving any purchase‑order discrepancies.
• Verify cargo descriptions against Alfanar’s legal duty exemption criteria and initiate exemption requests when needed.
• Process IBD entries in the system, keeping all data accurate and up‑to‑date.
• Collect shipment details (packing, quantity, weight, volume), determine shipment type (FCL, LCL, consolidation) and obtain or review freight rates.
• Select the most cost‑effective forwarder after supervisor approval and release the Freight Order.
• Coordinate pickup and movement with shippers and forwarders, monitoring lead times from origin to destination.
• Maintain communication with all parties, report deviations, and ensure shipping documents comply with local regulations and are available before port arrival.
• Assist the insurance specialist by preparing and providing required claim documentation.

Required profile

• At least 24 months of experience in freight, shipping, or customs clearance.
• Strong knowledge of import/export regulations and legal duty exemptions.
• Ability to work with ERP or shipping management systems and maintain accurate records.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
