Pharmacist – Hospital Pharmacy

About the role

The pharmacist will ensure high-quality medical treatment, compassion and understanding for every patient at NMC Hospitals and Clinics. The role involves accurate medication delivery, reviewing physician orders, and providing drug information to healthcare professionals and patients.

Key responsibilities

• Review, process and verify physician orders and patient medication profiles.
• Prepare and dispense medications accurately, including unit-dose inpatient preparations.
• Calculate and compound IV admixtures, total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and cytotoxic drugs according to policy.
• Perform drug‑interaction, allergy and diet restriction checks for each patient.
• Maintain computerized medication records, charging, verification and inventory control.
• Conduct periodic spot‑checks of controlled and narcotic drugs and manage stock levels.
• Provide drug information and counseling to healthcare staff and patients.
• Participate in orientation of new staff, pharmacy student training and continuing education.
• Ensure confidentiality, infection‑control procedures and compliance with hospital dress code.

Required profile

• Licensed pharmacist with experience in hospital pharmacy settings.
• Attention to detail and ability to interpret prescriptions accurately.
• Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality and professional standards.
• Willingness to participate in education and quality‑improvement activities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with pharmacy computer systems and medication verification software.
• Competence in IV admixture preparation, TPN and sterile compounding of cytotoxic drugs.
• Knowledge of unit‑dose dispensing and medication inventory management.
• Ability to perform drug‑interaction, allergy and diet restriction assessments.
