Principal Rotating Equipment Design Engineer

About the role

kbr is looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer with proven experience designing and specifying rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, seals and specialty and utility equipment in the oil and gas, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, offshore and/or infrastructure industries. The role requires FEED and detailed engineering of medium to large scale projects, and a minimum of 15 years' experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of up to 10 mechanical engineers and designers.
• Develop the discipline work plan.
• Review and check equipment data sheets and specifications.
• Perform technical studies such as compressor configuration, driver selection, life cycle cost, specialty equipment configuration, material handling and RAM studies.
• Evaluate technical bids and review packaged equipment.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the project team, including clients, on rotating equipment.
• Ensure design integrity of the mechanical scope, performance of assigned staff and on-schedule delivery within budget.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 15 years' experience in the oil and gas, hydrocarbon, petroleum refinery, offshore and/or infrastructure industries.
• Broad understanding of other disciplines' activities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of design practices, construction practices and procedures.
• Wide knowledge of codes and standards such as ASME, ANSI, NFPA, API, OSAH, ISA and NEC.
• Knowledge of rotating equipment and turbo machinery systems, installation, pre-commissioning and mechanical completion.
• Knowledge of Saudi Aramco standards and procedures is an added advantage.
