Procurement Specialist – Transportation & Transit

About the role

The Category Buyer – Transportation & Transit is responsible for sourcing and managing spend across fleet, logistics, mobility services and related contracts. You will develop strategies, negotiate with suppliers and ensure cost‑effective, reliable solutions that meet business and compliance goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies aligned with operational and financial objectives.
• Lead end‑to‑end sourcing activities: NDA, RFI, RFQ, RFP, tender evaluation, negotiation and contract award.
• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, SLAs and contracts to optimise total cost of ownership.
• Manage supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, safety and service metrics.
• Collaborate with procurement, transit, operations, logistics, finance, engineering and legal stakeholders.
• Monitor market conditions, supplier risks and industry trends.
• Identify and mitigate supply‑chain risks through contingency planning and alternative sourcing.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, governance standards and delegated authority.
• Track spend, savings, supplier performance and sourcing project outcomes.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial engineering or a related field.
• 2‑3 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing or category management, preferably in transportation, fleet, logistics or industrial environments.
• Proven experience managing complex sourcing events and commercial negotiations.
• Strong knowledge of contract management, supplier performance management and procurement governance.
• Familiarity with Incoterms (EXW, FCA, FOB, CIF, DAP, DDP).
• Professional certification such as CPSM, CSCP or equivalent is preferred.
