Regional Legal Head – UAE & Saudi Arabia

About the role

The Regional Legal Head will provide senior legal counsel and representation for Sutherland’s operations across the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will oversee compliance, corporate governance, and commercial contract management for the region.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the legal and compliance teams on day‑to‑day matters for UAE and Saudi Arabia operations.
• Collaborate with the Global General Counsel and other regional legal heads on cross‑border legal issues.
• Provide authoritative legal and policy advice on business and commercial matters.
• Manage corporate secretarial activities, board governance, and compliance with local bylaws.
• Coordinate with UAE and Saudi government bodies to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Identify, engage, and oversee external counsel for specialized or litigation matters.
• Review and negotiate commercial contracts, including customer, vendor, and partnership agreements.
• Develop risk‑mitigation strategies and reporting mechanisms for executive management.
• Support implementation of Sutherland’s Code of Business Conduct and related policies.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legal and regulatory developments affecting the region.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of experience as a senior in‑house counsel or at a law firm, handling corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.
• Strong understanding of UAE and Saudi Arabian legal frameworks.
• Proven ability to manage corporate secretarial duties and board interactions.
• Experience working with external counsel and handling litigation.
