Senior Software Engineer – Digital Platforms (Checkout)

About the role

Qiddiya Digital is looking for a senior individual contributor to own the technical direction of critical checkout‑related digital platforms. You will act as the primary technical authority, ensuring the solutions are resilient, secure, and performant while collaborating closely with vendor engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Take end‑to‑end technical ownership of the assigned digital domain, defining architecture, standards and roadmap.
• Provide hands‑on leadership across design, implementation, integration, release and production operations.
• Lead and challenge vendor engineering teams, reviewing APIs, data models, code quality and major technical decisions.
• Validate vendor deliverables against clear acceptance criteria and measurable evidence.
• Ensure solutions are resilient, reliable, scalable, observable and cost‑efficient.
• Define and monitor technical KPIs, SLOs, availability, latency and recovery targets.
• Implement automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, tracing and alerting.
• Oversee release plans, rollback procedures, capacity testing, disaster recovery and production readiness.
• Lead incident management, root‑cause analysis and permanent remediation.
• Identify and manage technical debt, architectural risks and operational weaknesses.
• Maintain architecture documentation, runbooks and support procedures.
• Drive knowledge transfer to ensure Qiddiya can independently operate and evolve the platform.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• Extensive experience in senior engineering roles such as Lead, Staff, Principal Engineer or Technical Lead.
• Proven hands‑on ability to design and operate large‑scale, distributed, cloud‑native platforms.
• Experience with customer‑facing digital products (e.g., commerce, payments, loyalty, identity, ticketing, mobile).
• Deep knowledge of APIs, microservices, event‑driven architecture, distributed systems, data consistency and failure recovery.
