Senior Traffic and Detour Engineer (PMC)

About the role

ARX is expanding its presence in the Middle East and seeks a Senior Traffic and Detour Engineer to lead technical reviews of traffic engineering designs, temporary traffic management plans and road diversion proposals for projects in Riyadh.

Key responsibilities

• Review and provide technical recommendations on traffic studies, impact assessments, temporary traffic management plans and detour designs submitted by consultants and contractors.
• Assess diversion alignments, junction layouts, lane configurations, signage, barriers, lighting and provisions for pedestrians and cyclists to ensure safe access for residents, businesses and emergency services.
• Coordinate with highway, utilities, structural, construction and health‑and‑safety teams to resolve design interfaces and constructability issues.
• Liaise with clients, road authorities, traffic police and contractors to support permits, approvals and implementation planning.
• Conduct site inspections before and after diversion implementation, monitor traffic performance during construction and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in traffic engineering, road design, temporary traffic management and diversion planning.
• Previous experience in a PMC, supervision consultancy or client‑representative role.
• Professional engineering registration or chartered status preferred.
• Familiarity with local road authority requirements and regional standards.
