Shift Engineer (CCGT Power Plant)

About the role

The Shift Engineer will supervise and manage daily operations of a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant in Rumah, Riyadh province. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient performance of gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs and associated balance‑of‑plant systems while meeting generation targets and HSSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise shift operations, ensuring safe and efficient running of GT, ST, HRSG and auxiliary systems.
• Monitor plant performance (generation output, heat rate, efficiency) via the Distributed Control System and take corrective actions.
• Coordinate start‑up, shutdown, synchronization, load changes and emergency procedures.
• Manage shift personnel, including operators and field staff, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
• Work with maintenance teams on equipment isolation, PTW, LOTO, troubleshooting and safe return‑to‑service.
• Maintain accurate shift logs, equipment status reports and SAP maintenance notifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Power or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in power generation plant operations, preferably CCGT.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or shift‑lead role.
• Hands‑on experience with gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs and auxiliary systems.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of CCGT plant operating principles and power generation processes.
• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and operational troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in SAP for maintenance notifications.
• Knowledge of Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Understanding of electrical protection systems and grid coordination.
