Steel Structure Estimation Engineer

About the role

Alashoury industry is seeking a Steel Structure Estimation Engineer to lead cost estimation for steel fabrication projects. The role involves translating design documents into accurate material and production cost models to support competitive bidding and project planning.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare material take‑offs (MTO) from drawings, BOMs, and client technical documents.
• Calculate material weight, surface area, and associated costs, including fasteners, leftovers, and scrap.
• Estimate production man‑hours, duration, and costs based on fabrication requirements.
• Determine painting, hot‑dip galvanizing, packing, and transportation expenses.
• Develop unit and total project cost sheets, apply profit margins, and produce final pricing.
• Compile techno‑commercial offers covering scope, specifications, procedures, QA/QC, finishing, installation, and commercial terms.
• Coordinate with Sales, Design, Production, Procurement, Planning, and QA/QC departments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in steel structure fabrication.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Material take‑offs and cost estimation.
• Knowledge of steel material properties and grades (ASTM, BS/EN, JIS, DIN).
• Understanding of paint selection, fire‑proofing, and climatic protection.
• Familiarity with hot‑dip galvanizing standards (ASTM A123, A153/A153M).
• Production time studies and fabrication productivity estimation.
