Telemedicine Gastroenterology Registrar

About the role

This position is for a physician in advanced training who will deliver gastroenterology and hepatology care through virtual platforms. Working under consultant supervision, the registrar will use telehealth tools to provide safe, patient‑centred management while complying with local telemedicine regulations and clinical governance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct virtual consultations for common GI conditions such as GERD, IBS, dyspepsia, constipation, diarrhoea, stable IBD follow‑up, fatty liver disease and hepatitis.
• Review laboratory results and imaging remotely, adjust treatment plans, and flag urgent cases for in‑person assessment.
• Document encounters accurately in the electronic medical record and participate in telemedicine‑driven care pathways.
• Engage in continuous professional development, attend CME activities and support teaching of junior doctors.
• Adhere to clinical guidelines, safe prescribing practices and report safety concerns to the Quality Department.

Required profile

• Medical degree with registration and current training as a gastroenterology registrar.
• Experience in managing gastrointestinal and hepatology patients.
• Ability to work independently under consultant supervision in a remote setting.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and ethical standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with telemedicine platforms for video, phone and secure messaging consultations.
• Competence in using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for documentation and order entry.
