Autonomous Vehicle Field Engineering Internship

About the role

We are seeking a Field Engineering Intern to join our autonomous‑vehicle team for a six‑month hybrid assignment. You will split your time between on‑road and closed‑course testing as a safety driver and supporting the software tools that keep our fleet operational.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a trained safety driver, ready to take manual control during autonomous vehicle tests.
• Follow and refine test protocols, safety procedures, and pre‑drive checklists.
• Monitor vehicle behavior in real time, document disengagements, edge cases, and anomalies.
• Collect, log, and annotate test‑drive data for the autonomy and engineering teams.
• Develop, test, and maintain vehicle software and internal tools such as logging pipelines, diagnostics dashboards, and fleet‑monitoring utilities.
• Triage and reproduce issues, collaborating with software and autonomy engineers to debug and resolve them.
• Perform routine vehicle readiness tasks, including sensor checks, calibration, and basic diagnostics.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement of field procedures.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail, situational awareness, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Genuine interest in autonomous systems, robotics, or self‑driving technology.

Required skills

• Programming experience in Python and/or C++.
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
• Experience with version control systems, specifically Git.
