Head of HVDC C&C Installation - Middle East, Asia & Africa

About the role

Hitachi Energy is looking for a Head of HVDC C&C Installation for the Middle East, Asia & Africa region, based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The role leads the installation organization within the region and supports the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of HVDC projects, translating the global C&C installation strategy into regional execution. It combines people management, resource planning, project execution support, tendering, constructability, subcontracting and continuous improvement, and is primarily office-based with regular travel to project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the regional installation organization in line with the global installation strategy and business objectives.
• Manage, mentor and develop Installation Managers, Installation Supervisors, Technical Site Advisors and Installation Specialists.
• Maintain an overview of regional installation activities across projects and tenders, reporting status, resource needs, risks and actions to the Global Head.
• Plan and allocate installation personnel to projects, and support workforce planning and recruitment.
• Ensure onboarding, training, systems access, software and documentation for permanent and temporary personnel.
• Visit project sites regularly to monitor progress, support staff and promote compliance with company requirements.
• Provide leadership and technical support on installation methodologies, resource planning, schedules, technical specifications, site accessibility and maintainability.
• Support technical and commercial discussions with customers, partners, project teams and subcontractors.
• Contribute to tendering, contractor selection and subcontracting, and ensure installation resources take part in design reviews and constructability workshops.
• Support budget preparation and monitor regional and project cost and time performance.
• Champion health, safety and environmental excellence and foster continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in large projects, power transmission, substations, EPC or large-scale energy infrastructure.
• Proven leadership of regional or international teams in installation, construction, commissioning or site execution.
• Experience managing and developing technical and site-based personnel across multiple locations or projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or another relevant technical discipline.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to project sites.

Required skills

• Knowledge of installation activities for equipment and systems, site execution, resource planning and constructability reviews.
• Ability to coordinate resources and priorities across a portfolio of projects and tenders.
• Understanding of HSE requirements and strong stakeholder management, communication and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work in a global matrix organization across cultures and geographies.
