About the role
The Media Public Relations Manager will translate Sakani’s marketing plan into media and PR priorities, shaping exposure themes, messaging focus, and reputation management objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Translate the marketing plan into media and public relations priorities, defining exposure themes, messaging focus areas, and reputation management objectives.
- Develop an annual media and public relations plan covering paid, earned, and shared channels to strengthen Sakani’s visibility, reach, and engagement.
- Coordinate media placements and flighting schedules across print, broadcast, and outdoor channels, optimizing timing and frequency.
- Maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, influencers, and PR agencies, leveraging the corporate media partner list.
- Work with Institutional Marketing Communications to manage media buying, agency briefs, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with Content & Creative to prepare media kits, press releases, feature articles, and talking points.
- Facilitate media interviews, press briefings, and public appearances for executives, reviewing briefing notes and guidelines.
- Supervise media dissemination, routing approved materials, managing embargoes, and ensuring optimal coverage.
- Report on media coverage and sentiment, identifying trends, misinformation risks, and proactive engagement opportunities.
- Implement crisis communications responses, preparing holding statements and escalation protocols.
- Coordinate with Events Management to plan media engagement for conferences, exhibitions, and ceremonies.
- Review performance of media campaigns by tracking impressions, reach, earned value, and sentiment, and provide recommendations.
- Maintain repositories for press releases, media kits, coverage reports, and journalist databases.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Media Studies, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Optional certifications such as CIPR Professional PR Diploma, PRSA APR, IABC CMP, or CIPR Chartered Practitioner.
