Senior Electrical Engineer – Substation (Airport Projects)

About the role

The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the PMC oversight for the Airport Substation and Medium Voltage Network Modernisation project. The role ensures successful delivery of engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning while keeping airport operations uninterrupted.

Key responsibilities

• Lead PMC activities for EPC/LSTK execution of a new 34.5/13.8 kV airport substation and MV network modernization.
• Manage scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety and stakeholder coordination, reviewing execution, design and procurement plans.
• Oversee detailed engineering reviews at 60 %, 90 % and IFC stages and ensure compliance with SEC standards, IEC, IEEE and NFPA codes.
• Provide technical leadership for substation equipment, protection & control, SCADA/ADMS integration and power system studies (load flow, short‑circuit, arc‑flash, relay coordination).
• Supervise construction, site works, outage planning and energisation while maintaining airport operations.
• Witness factory and site acceptance tests, lead commissioning, and coordinate energisation approvals with SEC and airport authorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s in Power Systems preferred).
• Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical power infrastructure, 10 years in project management/PMC, and 5 years on airport‑scale projects.
• Professional registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers; PMP and PE/Chartered Engineer certifications preferred.

Required skills

• SDCS, AutoCAD, BIM/Revit, Primavera P6, MS Project, Power BI.
• ETAP, IEEE 80, IEEE 1584, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, IEC 60076, IEC 62271, SEC Standards (TMSS, SDCS, SDMS).
• Experience with 34.5/13.8 kV substations, MV/LV distribution, protection & control, SCADA/ADMS, and airport electrical infrastructure.
