Shift Engineer (Shift Leader) - Paper Production

About the role

Careers International is recruiting a Shift Engineer (Shift Leader) in Riyadh for a paper production environment. The role supervises the company's paper production operations so that budgeted targets for volume, quality and cost are met, and coordinates production across the assigned plant area.

Key responsibilities

• Review the production log to allocate tasks and give work direction to subordinate shift members so line targets are met.
• Take part in running a complete production line in the allocated plant area to keep operations continuous and efficient.
• Monitor system performance, adjust calibrations and settings to optimise line stages, throughput and minimise waste.
• Troubleshoot non-routine defects by recalibrating settings, escalate serious malfunctions to Maintenance and Quality Control, and carry out minor maintenance to protect asset life.
• Prepare for scheduled shutdowns and supervise the team and planning during unscheduled shutdowns.
• Act as a technical reference for shift members, helping with higher-level troubleshooting and passing on expertise through on-the-job training.
• Interface with Maintenance, Stores, Quality and other production units for materials supply and activity coordination.
• Lead shift hand-over meetings, log operating parameters and report irregularities to the supervisor.
• Ensure raw materials are available against the production plan, the workplace is clean and work complies with occupational health and safety procedures.
• Make sure shift team members are well presented, follow company uniform and hygiene standards, and enter all Jumbo roles produced in the shift into the ERP Production module.

Required profile

• Preferably a Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of experience in the paper industry.
• First-level supervisory potential.
• Good knowledge of English (basic level).
• Strong knowledge and understanding of equipment and processes in your own area.
