Shop Estimator and Planning Engineer

About the role

This position is a key part of delivering engineered‑to‑order projects, turning technical requirements into accurate cost estimates, production plans and delivery forecasts. You will work within a collaborative manufacturing and project execution team to improve planning accuracy, resource utilization and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop accurate estimates, labour forecasts and execution strategies to support sound project decisions.
• Build and maintain production plans that align materials, resources, capacity and project priorities for reliable delivery.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to identify risks, resolve constraints and support successful project execution.
• Drive visibility through schedule forecasting, progress tracking and proactive recovery planning.
• Analyse estimate and schedule performance, capture lessons learned and improve future accuracy.
• Integrate safety, quality and risk management considerations into planning activities.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives that enhance productivity and reduce waste.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Production Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience in fabrication, engineered equipment, oil and gas or project‑driven manufacturing environments.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, welding and inspection requirements.
• Knowledge of estimating methodologies, labour‑hour forecasting, capacity planning, work breakdown structures, resource loading and project scheduling principles.
• Strong analytical, organisational, communication and coordination skills.
