Commercial Director – Construction & Landscape Projects

About the role

We are looking for a strategic Commercial Director to steer business development, tendering and commercial strategy across large‑scale construction and landscape projects. The successful candidate will generate new opportunities, shape competitive bids and ensure commercial excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate and pursue new project opportunities to drive growth.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, government bodies and industry stakeholders.
  • Conduct market analysis, forecast trends and define competitive advantages.
  • Prepare business development plans, sales pipelines and revenue forecasts.
  • Lead the preparation, review and submission of tenders for construction and landscape works.
  • Define tender strategy, pricing, value engineering and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with engineering, planning, procurement and finance to produce accurate proposals.
  • Develop commercial frameworks, policies and systems that support sustainable profitability.
  • Negotiate contracts, LOIs and final agreements, overseeing commercial terms.
  • Monitor commercial risks and opportunities across business units and projects.
  • Mentor and lead teams in business development, tendering and contract management.
  • Strengthen internal capabilities through training, clear KPIs and alignment of commercial strategy with operations.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Extensive experience in commercial leadership within construction or infrastructure.
  • Proven track record in winning high‑value projects through business development and tendering.
  • Deep knowledge of pricing, estimation, contractual frameworks and market dynamics.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and client‑management abilities.
  • Strategic mindset with experience leading cross‑functional teams.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC or similar contract standards.
  • Professional certifications such as MRICS, RICS or MBA are a plus.
