Data Engineer I

About the role

We are seeking a Data Engineer I to join Mozn’s implementation and professional services team. In this position you will design, build and optimise data pipelines that power our FOCAL system, collaborating closely with machine‑learning engineers, software developers and engagement managers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines supporting the FOCAL platform.
• Design efficient database schemas, indexing strategies and query execution plans to optimise SQL query generation.
• Pre‑process, transform and structure large‑scale datasets for machine‑learning models.
• Monitor pipeline performance, reliability and scalability, implementing validation and logging mechanisms.
• Support both real‑time and batch query execution by optimising database interactions.
• Stay current with best practices in data engineering, database optimisation and ML infrastructure.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in data engineering or a related technical role.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with client‑facing teams.
• Experience designing or consuming RESTful APIs.

Required skills

• Python for data processing and ETL development.
• Advanced SQL and complex query writing.
• Dimensional modelling (star and snowflake schemas).
• Linux command‑line and server administration.
• Docker or other containerisation technologies.
• ETL/ELT pipeline development tools.
• Familiarity with Apache Airflow, PySpark, Flask or FastAPI.
• Understanding of authentication mechanisms such as OAuth, API keys and JWT.
• Exposure to message‑queue or streaming platforms like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
