About the role
The Head of Credit Control, Claims & Collections will own the full credit, claims and collections lifecycle for insurance companies, corporate clients and government entities. This senior position drives cash conversion, reduces overdue receivables, improves claim quality and provides reliable forecasts to support liquidity and growth.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the creation of a single, accountable Credit Control, Claims & Collections function.
- Manage the handover of processes, data, balances and documentation from legacy functions.
- Define organisational structure, operating model, policies, procedures, controls and delegated authorities.
- Oversee end‑to‑end collection cycles for insurance, corporate and government customers.
- Govern the insurance claims cycle from submission through settlement, cash application and reconciliation.
- Set and monitor SLAs with Commercial, Operations, IT and Finance for data quality and availability.
- Build senior‑level relationships with finance, claims and settlement teams of partner institutions.
- Identify root causes of claim rejections, delays, under‑payments or disputes and resolve them.
- Review financial and credit terms in customer contracts before approval.
- Establish credit policies, limits, payment terms and exception controls.
- Manage receivables ageing, collection plans, disputes and escalations.
- Prepare short‑ and medium‑term collection forecasts for Treasury and FP&A.
- Develop dashboards and reports on DSO, ageing, claims status, collection performance and forecast accuracy.
- Recruit, lead and develop a high‑performing team and report performance and risk to the CFO.
Required profile
- Available to join no later than 1 December 2026.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field; professional qualification or postgraduate degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years experience in credit control, receivables, claims or collections, with at least 5 years hands‑on credit control and collections experience.
- Proven leadership managing credit, claims or collections teams.
- Strong experience negotiating with insurance companies and knowledge of insurance claims processes.
- Experience in healthcare, pharmacy retail or medical insurance strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of receivables ageing, DSO, credit risk, cash conversion and working‑capital performance.
