Head of Cyber Security

About the role

The Head of Cyber Security leads the university’s Cybersecurity Unit, safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information assets. The role shapes the university‑wide security strategy and ensures compliance with Saudi and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a university‑wide cybersecurity strategy aligned with NCA, SAMA and institutional objectives.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, propose mitigation plans and enforce security policies, procedures and standards.
• Monitor systems for breaches, lead incident response, forensic investigations and coordinate threat intelligence, vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
• Oversee the selection, deployment and management of security tools such as firewalls, SIEM, DLP and endpoint protection.
• Build, lead and mentor a dedicated cybersecurity team and collaborate with IT, academic and administrative units.
• Support internal and external audits, maintain compliance documentation for standards like ISO 27001, and stay current on emerging threats and regulatory changes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 5–7 years of experience in cybersecurity, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Familiarity with Saudi regulations (NCA, ECC, SACS, SSOC) and international frameworks.
• Strong communication skills in Arabic and English.

Required skills

• CISSP, CISM or CEH certification.
• Knowledge of ISO 27001, SIEM, DLP, firewalls and endpoint protection.
• Experience with penetration testing, vulnerability assessments and threat intelligence.
• Proficiency in implementing cybersecurity frameworks and best practices.
