Manufacturing Technician – Food Packaging & Process Maintenance

About the role

The Manufacturing Technician will support the Factory/Plant Engineer by delivering technical services for processing and production. The role focuses on preventive and breakdown maintenance of food packaging and processing equipment, driving continuous improvement and ensuring safe, efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute preventive maintenance programs and complete equipment health checks.
• Perform breakdown maintenance on food packaging, processing, and auxiliary machinery.
• Carry out electrical and mechanical overhauls to sustain equipment performance.
• Participate in OEE and waste‑reduction projects.
• Test and verify equipment after repairs to confirm efficiency.
• Support alterations, new installations, and relocations of machinery.
• Inspect electrical, mechanical, compressed‑air, and other installations for safety.
• Assist Production in line set‑up, personnel training, and equipment improvement.
• Document installations, alterations, and maintain equipment records.
• Ensure safety guards and PPE are used correctly.

Required profile

• Mechanical BTEC Diploma / HND Engineering (MQF 4/5) or equivalent; an electrical BTEC diploma may be accepted with ≥4 years experience.
• Wireman’s Electrical License A and B.
• Minimum 2 years experience in food, pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing.
• Self‑leading attitude with procedural and supervisory skills.
