Operations Advisor - Railway Station Systems

About the role

The Operations Advisor will provide specialist operational input for the design of Qiddiya Grand Central Station (GCS), a multi‑modal underground railway hub integrating high‑speed rail, metro and light rail services. Acting as the operational representative, you will ensure that station designs support safe, efficient and maintainable railway operations throughout the asset lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Provide operational advice and guidance across all project stages of station design.
• Review architectural, civil, MEPH and station systems designs from a railway operational perspective.
• Ensure layouts facilitate safe passenger movement, crowd management and emergency response in both normal and degraded modes.
• Support development of operational concepts, readiness plans, operating philosophies and maintenance strategies.
• Assess impacts of vertical transportation, public circulation, back‑of‑house and maintenance access arrangements.
• Identify operational risks, contribute to hazard identification and safety assurance activities.
• Interface with the Lead Design Consultant, client stakeholders and regulatory bodies to embed operational resilience and licensing requirements.

Required profile

• Significant railway operational experience with understanding of interfaces to track, signalling and rolling stock systems.
• Proven ability to translate operational requirements into design recommendations.
• Experience with safety regulations, hazard analysis and railway operating licence processes.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary design teams.
