Packaging Engineer

About the role

The Packaging Engineer will design and implement cost‑efficient, protective packaging solutions for industrial components in a fast‑paced plant launch environment. You will work closely with logistics, manufacturing and procurement teams to ensure parts are securely contained, optimised for shipping density, and protected throughout long‑haul transit.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse 2D/3D CAD blueprints to identify geometry, fragile points and structural requirements.
• Engineer expendable packaging arrays such as custom cartons, dunnage, corrugated shippers and foam inserts.
• Use cube‑optimization and container‑loading software to maximise pallet yields and reduce freight costs.
• Collaborate with logistics and supply‑chain teams to align packaging dimensions with standard freight configurations.
• Validate prototypes to ensure they meet mechanical and transport‑stress criteria.
• Support the plant launch phase by rapidly moving concepts from design to floor implementation and defining supplier packaging specifications.

Required profile

• 2–6 years of proven experience in packaging engineering, industrial packaging design or structural logistics packaging.
• Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and apply structural engineering concepts.
• Hands‑on experience with packaging simulation and optimisation tools.
