Practice Lead - Freight Rail

About the role

Worley is seeking an experienced Rail Consultant to lead its Freight Rail practice across the EMEA region. Reporting to the Service Line Director, the Practice Lead will shape the growth, delivery and performance of the rail consulting business, based either in Madrid or Saudi Arabia.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the Rail Practice within the Land Transport & Logistics business, overseeing business development, delivery, performance and operational efficiency.
• Coordinate practice strategy with Ports, Transport & Logistics Hub leadership and develop a regional centre of expertise through recruitment and mentoring.
• Provide project management and technical guidance on rail network planning, freight design and operations, rail logistics, infrastructure development, intermodal connectivity and asset optimisation.
• Lead rail studies in early project phases, including data gathering, analysis, challenge identification, recommendation development and client liaison.
• Generate new business opportunities by collaborating with other service lines and leveraging existing client relationships.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, rail operators, infrastructure managers and monitor industry trends for innovation.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior rail consultant or similar role, with a track record of leading practice or business units.
• Strong strategic thinking, business development and client‑relationship skills.
• Ability to recruit, mentor and develop technical expertise within a team.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities.
