Terminal Operator – Truck Operations

About the role

The Terminal Operator – Truck Operations ensures the efficient loading and off‑loading of containers from trucks within a terminal or depot. The role focuses on fast truck turnaround, accurate container handling, and strict adherence to safety and operational procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise loading and off‑loading of containers, guiding reach stackers, forklifts and terminal tractors.
• Manage truck flow, direct drivers to bays, and prevent congestion.
• Verify container numbers, seal numbers and documentation, reporting any discrepancies.
• Inspect containers for damage before movement and ensure they are safe for transport.
• Work with the yard team to confirm container availability and correct positioning.
• Monitor safety during lifting operations and enforce SOPs.
• Record all activities in the system and maintain logs of container movements.

Required profile

• Diploma or relevant technical qualification (preferred).
• 1–3 years of experience in container terminals, depots or logistics operations.
• Strong focus on safety, operational accuracy and time‑critical truck turnaround.

Required skills

• Knowledge of container handling and truck operations.
• Familiarity with equipment such as reach stackers, forklifts and terminal tractors.
• Understanding of yard layout and terminal flow.
• Basic use of ERP or similar logistics systems.
