Alignment Engineer – Railway Design

About the role

Parsons is seeking an experienced Alignment Engineer to lead the railway alignment design process from concept through detailed design. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, efficient, and cost‑effective rail corridor solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the railway alignment design from concept to detailed design.
• Conduct route selection studies and evaluate technical, environmental, social, operational, and constructability constraints.
• Review and approve horizontal and vertical alignment proposals in line with international and local standards.
• Collaborate with civil, track, structures, systems, geotechnical, environmental, and other design teams.
• Manage interfaces with land acquisition, stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and third parties.
• Validate alignment reports, drawings, models, and technical deliverables for quality and compliance.
• Implement QA/QC processes for all alignment‑related outputs.
• Participate in technical meetings, workshops, design reviews, and site visits.
• Identify and mitigate alignment‑related risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Document design changes and ensure traceability of technical decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in railway route and alignment design for major rail or linear infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience delivering large‑scale conventional or long‑distance railway projects.
• Strong knowledge of international railway design standards and track geometry requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary design interfaces and stakeholder relationships.
