Automation Engineer, PWT

About the role

Lucid Motors is seeking a hands‑on Automation Engineer to develop, commission, sustain and improve PLC, HMI/SCADA, vision, robotics and motion‑control systems for the AMP‑2 Drive Unit and HV Battery assembly lines. The role supports equipment acceptance from FAT/SAT through safe launch, volume ramp and stable production while ensuring compliance with functional‑safety, OT‑cybersecurity and change‑control standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain PLC programs, function blocks, data structures and interfaces using approved coding and documentation standards.
• Manage all software changes with impact assessment, peer review, validation, rollback readiness and archival.
• Execute FAT/SAT activities, close punch‑lists, provide production‑release support and hand over as‑built documentation.
• Create HMI/SCADA screens, alarms, diagnostics and historian tags to improve troubleshooting and MTTR.
• Integrate PLCs with MES/APM/LMIS via OPC‑UA, handshakes and messaging, validating machine states, counts, rejects and traceability.
• Configure and troubleshoot EtherNet/IP networks, managed switches and field‑device communications while following OT‑cybersecurity policies.
• Deploy and support vision systems (Cognex, Keyence) and FANUC robot cells, handling handshakes, safety interlocks and cycle‑level recovery.
• Commission VFDs, servos, encoders and motion‑control interfaces for a variety of assembly operations.
• Support safety PLC changes under ISO 13849/IEC 62061 governance and ensure compliance with SASO, IEC 60204 and HV safety procedures.
• Provide ongoing production support, downtime analysis, preventive maintenance and capability transfer to Saudi engineers.
