Chemist – Operations (Full‑time)

About the role

The Chemist will conduct laboratory analysis, test samples and interpret results to support the establishment of operational parameters for the plant. The role ensures efficient testing and sampling in line with NOMAC policies, quality standards and HSE procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, register and analyse samples, producing accurate reports according to schedule.
• Interpret test results to help define optimum operational parameters and maintain plant integrity.
• Support the Operations team with process‑related assistance to maximise yield within quality guidelines.
• Ensure laboratory instruments are calibrated annually and maintain stock of chemicals and consumables.
• Assist in internal and external Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental audits and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives and adhere to all relevant policies, SOPs and safety procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years laboratory experience in a power or water‑desalination plant.

Required skills

• Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and environmental health impact of chemicals.
• Operations systems knowledge and data collection & analysis.
• Laboratory testing, instrument calibration and chemical handling.
• Certified Environmental and Safety qualification.
